MISS RITZ: ran out the easy winner of a Yarmouth handicap on Wednesday to follow up her success over the course on her seasonal debut the previous week. This lightly raced filly, reportedly in foal, has returned as a much improved performer for her new trainer this year and should thrive this autumn. (M Johnston)

REGAL FANFARE: disposed decisively of her rivals when a six-length winner from Nagnagnag at Chester on Friday. The runner-up, who was not disgraced when contesting the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot, had won a nursery just as easily a week earlier, but may have encountered a very progressive juvenile here.
