KALKO: lightly raced handicapper on the Flat who made a mistake at the fourth and could not quicken approaching the last on his hurdling debut at Wetherby last Monday. Beaten just over three lengths by Personal Hazard, the experience can be put to good use next time. (M Hammond).

STRONG FANCY: novice chaser, stayed on well over two miles on Monday. Still returning to fitness after a long lay-off, has the ability to pick up a race over an extra four furlongs. (S Kettlewell).
