2.15: Wannabe Grand would overshadow her rivals today if reproducing her close second to Wince in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket or her respectable third to Balisada in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot. But she flopped when dropped back to six furlongs for the July Cup at Newmarket last time and is still looking for her first win this season. FRAGRANT OASIS was only eighth in the 1,000 Guineas, failing to find the stamina for the mile. Ed Dunlop's filly has been finishing powerfully over 6f in her last two races. Over this seven furlongs she looks better value than the favourite.
2.45: The unbeaten colts Kingsclere and Sarafan set the standard, but they face an opponent with major potential in EKRAAR, a good-looking colt (from an in-form yard) with Group One entries, who will be all the better for his debut when favourite in the Newmarket maiden won by Race Leader.
3.20: 1997 and 1998 Gold Cup winners Celeric and Kayf Tara look sure to be concerned in the finish. However, it is worth giving one more chance to stamina-packed TA-LIM, whose Yorkshire Cup run can be blamed on the soft ground.
3.50: LONESOME DUDE and Indian Lodge are not on offer at extravagant odds, but this valuable prize does not look as competitive as in recent years and this pair, ridden respectively by Gary Stevens and Richard Quinn, may well dominate the finish. The York winner Swallow Flight has bags of ability and will pose a threat if he does not dwell at the start.
