.30: Lake Coniston got first run on FIRST TRUMP when beating him at Deauville recently and Geoff Wragg's colt, who will be sharpened by the application of blinkers for the first time, can gain his revenge. William Hill's odds of 4-1 are the best available this morning. Bin Ajwaad, trying six furlongs for the first time and with Ray Cochrane replacing Lester Piggott, is an interesting 10-1 shot with the same firm (7-1 Ladbrokes).
.05: Plenty of potential on show, but the ones that have achieved most are Jural and PURE GRAIN. The latter was a smooth winner at Goodwood last time and is 5-2 with William Hill. Her stable-companion Dance A Dream is progressing and represents a decent alternative at 10-1 (Ladbrokes and Hill).
.40: Wizard King, breathtaking at Chester two races ago, is a worthy favourite but it is worrying that he has been beaten since and that Ladbrokes, who had him at 6-1 two days ago, now quote him at 8-1. A middle-to-high draw is likely to prove best and alternatives with that qualification are the improving filly Mur Taasha, the course- and-distance winner Band On The Run and INDIAN FLY. The selection has twice disappointed in small fields over Goodwood's seven furlongs but ran well over a mile at Newbury last time. This stiffer course should suit and morning odds of 20-1 with Coral and William Hill are attractive.
.25 DISTANT VIEW was a brilliant winner of the Sussex Stakes from today's opponents, Barathea, Sayyedati and Bigstone, and there is no reason why they should reverse placings. The 5-2 on offer this morning with Coral and Ladbrokes is not likely to be around at post time. There is no evidence to suggest that Turtle Island has progressed since the spring, so East Of The Moon is the danger. She seemed to have something in hand of Sayyedati when beating her at Deauville, so it was disappointing that she could not increase her superiority behind Ski Paradise at Longchamp. As the participation of Clive Brittain's filly has been in doubt, the bookies are now anxious to lay her and at 16-1 generally, the 1993 1,000 Guineas winner is overpriced.
.00: ELTISH is the clear form choice, but for those reluctant to take Coral's 11-8, Ela-Aristokrati (16-1 with the same firm), from the powerful Stoute stable, is the pick of the prices.
