Racing: Woods loses ban appeal
WENDYLL WOODS yesterday lost his appeal against a seven-day ban for irresponsible riding. The Jockey Club's disciplinary committee ratified the decision of the Lingfield stewards to punish Woods for his riding of Ebony Blaze at the Surrey track on 23 June.
Woods was found to have caused interference by immediately crossing over towards the rails on his mount. 'It should have been obvious to him that he was not sufficiently clear to do so,' the committee decided. His suspension takes effect today.
