Point-to-point: Greenall to close on record with Chorizo

The men's champion, Oliver Greenall, has sound chances at both this weekend's meetings as he attempts to beat the record of 54 winners set by Ashley Farrant in 2004.

Greenall become only the third rider along with Farrant and Richard Burton to partner 50 winners in a season with a double at Dingley last Saturday.

Oliver has five to choose from in today's men's open at Trecoed, but Chorizo (3.10) has by far the best form and is unlucky not to be unbeaten in eight outings this season.

Veteran Surrey rider Tim Underwood, 60, has been a regular visitor to this far west Welsh fixture where he has had two winners in the last three years and can maintain his strike rate on Long Courrier (4.55) in the Intermediate.

Greenall is also likely to be in action at Bratton Down tomorrow where his best chance looks to be on the progressive six-year-old Pristine Condition (4.55) in the Intermediate.

Ladies' champion Polly Gundry, who reached the 38 mark at Larkhill last week, needs just two more to equal Polly Curling's 1995 record and could land a double at the Devon course on Kiama (3.45) in the ladies' open and Il Marinaio (4.20) in the Restricted.
