Paris-Dakar competitors attacked

Several competitors in the Paris-Dakar Rally came under attack shortly before reaching the end of the 10th stage near the Sahara desert town of Taoudenni, Mali. Organisers said five cars and two trucks were attacked by seven or eight unidentified people shortly before midnight on Friday. All the competitors reached were rescued and organisers did not report any casualties. One truck was stolen.
