Malcolm Wilson opened up a lead of almost four minutes in the Perth Scottish Rally after dominating the second leg with a performance that serves as a warning to his British Rally Championship series rivals. The Cumbrian set the fastest time on all of the day's 13 special stages through the Highland Forest in his Ford Escort Cosworth and leads the third round of the series by 3min 59sec. The series leader and his team-mate, Stephen Finlay, is second, while Finland's Marcus Gronholm, making his British debut, is third, despite a fire in his Toyota Celica when the exhaust set the rear bumper alight. There are seven more stages before the finish this afternoon.
