Garry Schofield, the Leeds captain, faces a Rugby League disciplinary hearing today with his hopes of playing in the Premiership final against Wigan on Sunday in jeopardy. The 29-year-old Great Britain stand-off was sent off for the first time in his career during last weekend's semi-final victory against St Helens at Headingley.
Tom Smith, the former Widnes chairman, has resigned as a director at Naughton Park following the club's omission from the elite of the new Super League.
