For the second successive week Leeds were denied a victory in the final few minutes. Last week it was Oldham who came from behind, yesterday it was the Sheffield Eagles at Bramall Lane.

After Gary Hetherington's side took a 16-0 lead into the break they were rocked by an amazing Leeds fightback. Six tries in the second period put the visitors ahead but with three minutes remaining Keith Senior charged over for his second try, converted by Mark Aston, to give the Eagles a 34-31 victory.

Castleford staged a second-half rally to beat Oldham, 30-20. They looked in trouble when they trailed 16-4 at half-time, but hit the home side with five second-half tries. Castleford turned the corner, thanks to an inspirational display from their New Zealand hooker Brendan Tuuta.

After Paris's victory on Saturday Workington look favour- ites for the drop after Warrington scored nine tries in a 49-4 away victory.
