THE Wigan prop, Andy Platt, has escaped a ban which would have kept him out of next weekend's Silk Cut Challenge Cup semi-final against Castleford, writes Dave Hadfield.

Platt was sent off after a brawl, for which both clubs have been fined, when Wigan played Featherstone in their cup quarter-final last week.

A one-match suspension means that he will miss the game at Leigh on Sunday, but will be available for Wigan's most difficult fixture for years, against a side who have beaten them heavily twice this season.

Featherstone's Steve Molloy has also been banned for one match for the brawl and his team-mate, Neil Roebuck, sent off later in the game, was given a three-match suspension.

Salford have signed the Australian centre, Greg Austin, on a free transfer from Keighley.
