Orrell are to pursue their compensation claim against the Rugby Football Union, even though the decision to postpone their opening game of the season against Bath has been reversed. The Courage League One match has been restored to 31 August following the cancellation of the Anglo- Welsh Challenge. Orrell claim they do not have sufficient time to organise full sponsorship.

Cardiff added another Wales player to their squad on Tuesday when Gwyn Jones, of Llanelli, became the fourth international to join the club this summer. He will link up with fellow newcomers and Wales team-mates Justin Thomas, Leigh Davies and Robert Howley. But Jones will have to wait until the new year before making his Cardiff debut as he recovers from a operation to repair the shoulder he injured in Australia.
