Mario Ledesma, an Argentinian replacement, was sent off as tempers flared at the end of his team's hard-earned 25-17 win over the South-West at Redruth yesterday.

Argentina owed their success to a concerted effort by their forwards, with the prop Martin Scelzo and the lock Jose Simes excelling in a game played in heavy rain.

On Saturday, South Africa A had Robert Kempson sent off during a 43- 17 defeat of London at Twickenham. The prop was dismissed near the end of the first half for punching John Fowler. The referee had to sort out another confrontation in the second half, with Fowler again heavily involved.

An inexperienced Queensland team overcame dreadful weather and a spirited Midlands side to win 29-25 at Stourbridge yesterday, their third victory in four games on their tour.
