Martin Corry, the Leicester back-row forward who forced his way into England's World Cup squad with a a series of outstanding performances in the warm-up internationals, is flying back to Britain to be with his wife, Tara, for the birth of their first child. Corry, who has yet to feature in the tournament, is expected to return to Australia on Friday and is likely to play against Uruguay at the weekend.
Will Greenwood was flying to Brisbane today after spending a week in London on compassionate leave. His wife, Caro, had been suffering difficulties with her second pregnancy, and Greenwood left the squad immediately after the victory over South Africa in Perth.
Mrs Greenwood's condition has improved sufficiently for the Harlequins centre to rejoin his colleagues, and he too may play a part against the Uruguayans on Sunday.
