England came within a few inches of snatching the Six Nations crown from Ireland's grasp only to fall six-points short of their target in the 55-35 win over France as the Irish won back-to-back titles for the first time in their history.

Two tries from scrum-half Ben Youngs paved the way to the thrilling encounter between the old enemies, as 'Le Crunch' lived up to its name and then some. Jack Nowell also added a brace, while there were tries for Anthony Watson, George Ford and Billy Vunipola.

France threatened to upset the home side when they scored to tries through Sebastian Tillous-Borde and Noa Nakaitaci, and they kept attacking throughout the match with further scores for Maxime Mermoz, Vincent Debaty and replacement Benjamin Kayser.

While the Twickenham crowd departed having seen one of the most incredible games of rugby on he most incredible day's of rugby, England could hold their head high despite the obvious disappointment of finishing second for the fourth straight year.
