The Scotland coach, Matt Williams, yesterday inserted another chapter into the continuing story of where best to play Chris Paterson by moving his captain out of his favoured No 10 position for the last game of the Six Nations' Championship against Ireland.

Paterson has been switched to full-back, with Dan Parks coming in at No 10. Paterson has won most of his 44 caps playing on the wing but has always stated his preferred position is stand-off.
