Unless we got the ball, we knew it would be hard. We didn't have a good day and Ireland deserved to win. We played badly in every area. They played very well, and we played very poorly. You hate losing, but you have just got to cop it.
Sir Clive Woodward, England manager
We had no momentum from the line-outs, I take full responsibility for that, and I am not going to pass the buck.
Andy Robinson, England coach
If you make as many errors as we did then you make life difficult for yourself. They are not the sort of standards we expect from this England team.
Lawrence Dallaglio, England captain
It probably doesn't surprise us as much as it surprises everybody else.
Brian O'Driscoll, Ireland captain
This is right up there in the best rugby days of my lifetime. England are the world champions and this is Twickenham and that makes it very special. The try was right off the practice field and that was very satisfying. If Wales can beat France in Cardiff, it will put everyone back on a level playing field.
Eddie O'Sullivan, Ireland coach
I don't think there was any complacency - we lost to a better team. We don't like losing, but we have always got better after losing a game, and this is still a great team of people.
We felt we had to do it at some stage so we said why not be ourselves, belief was the big thing this week. We knew we had to take them on up front and not only match them but add something to it. We have had a couple of bad experiences at Twickenham two and four years ago and I think we used them to our advantage.
I don't want to get carried away.
We can put a line under the World Cup now.
