Dennis Conner has picked up the breeze again and last night had a 72-mile lead in Winston over Chris Dickson as the leading yachts in the Whitbread Race prepared to round Tasmania and start today on the second half of the 3,200-mile third leg from Fremantle to Auckland, writes Stuart Alexander. Dickson had squeezed Tokio past the leading maxi, Grant Dalton's New Zealand Endeavour, to be second on the water and second Whitbread 60.
