Steve Diamond, the Sale hooker, will serve a two-week suspension after playing for the North against Western Samoa at Huddersfield on Tuesday.

Five Steaua Bucharest players have been banned for two years for attacking a touch judge on a train after a match against Universitatea Baia Mare, which they lost 6-3.

Ben Whetstone, the Bedford centre, will replace Leicester's Richard Robinson, who has failed a fitness test on a hamstring injury, in the Midlands team to face Western Samoa at Leicester tomorrow. Andy Smallwood, of Nottingham, will be on the bench.
