Armando Castagna has left Poole, currently bottom of the Elite League, and returned home to Italy. The former World finalist said: "The standard of racing in the Elite League is the hardest I have come up against... and I think it better if I quit rather than let the club down."

PREMIER LEAGUE: Postponed: Glasgow v Oxford. (Restaging Monday 22 Sept, 7.30pm).

ELITE LEAGUE: Bradford 11 Belle Vue 7. Abandoned after three heats due to heavy rain.

WELSH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP (Newport) 6-lap final. 1 J Screen (Bradford); 2 J Lyons (Belle Vue); 3 S Parker (Kings Lynn); 4 C Stonehewer (Long Eaton).
