ANA FIDELIA QUIROT, Cuba's Olympic 800 metres bronze medallist who is being treated in hospital for severe burns suffered in a domestic accident, has given birth to healthy baby girl. The birth, which was induced on Sunday, did not affect the health of the mother, who remained in a critical but stable condition in a Havana hospital. Quirot, 29, was more than seven months pregnant when she was rushed to hospital last Friday.

ROB DE CASTELLA, of Australia, the only man to complete four Olympic marathons, has signed to run in the NutraSweet London Marathon on 18 April.
