GEOFFREY RICHMOND, the Scarborough chairman, has put the Third Division club up for sale. Richmond said he made the decision after receiving hate mail following the sacking nine days ago of the team's manager, Ray McHale.

ROY BAILEY, the former Ipswich Town goalkeeper, has died in Johannesburg of brain cancer. Bailey, 60, began his career with Crystal Palace in the early 1950s before joining Ipswich Town in 1958, where he won his League championship medal under Alf Ramsey in the 1961-62 season. His son, Gary, is a former Manchester United goalkeeper.

DIEGO MARADONA, of Sevilla, has had his two-match suspension for fighting in a Spanish league game against Cadiz cut to one game on appeal.
