IVICA OSIM, until recently the coach of the Yugoslavian national team, is the new coach of Panathinaikos of Athens.

WALES will switch their World Cup qualifier against Belgium at the Arms Park in Cardiff from 18 November to 31 March, 1993, because of a rugby union international between Wales and Australia on 21 November. Wales will now play Belgium in Brussels on 18 November.

STOKE CITY are to sign the West Bromwich Albion defender Graham Harbey, but a fee has not been agreed because the Stoke manager, Lou Macari, is not allowed to talk to his opposite number at West Bromwich, Ossie Ardiles, because of a court case. Macari is currently on trial at Winchester Crown Court for tax evasion relating to his time as manager of Swindon Town, and Ardiles is due to give evidence.

BARNET, the Third Division club, have been accused by some of their players of failing to pay their wages. 'I know that some of the lads have not been paid for about seven weeks,' the defender, David Howells, said. The Professional Footballers' Association are investigating.

RUSSIA will replace the Commonwealth of Independent States in Group Five of the European qualifiying tournament for the 1994 World Cup, Fifa announced in Zurich yesterday. South Africa will replace Burkina Faso in the African qualifiers.

REAL MADRID have signed the Chilean international striker, Ivan Zamorano, from their Spanish rivals Seville for pounds 3m. Jurgen Klinsmann, the German forward who had been linked with Madrid, is now likely to join Paris St Germain.

MILAN are signing GianLuigi Lentini, a 23-year-old Italian international forward, from Torino for an undisclosed fee.
