SHEFFIELD UNITED are prepared to pay pounds 450,000 for Millwall's former England Under-21 international defender, Alan McLeary, who is on loan at Bramall Lane. If he impresses in friendlies at Rotherham today and at Cambridge United on Monday, the deal is likely to be made permanent.

GUDMUNDOR TORFASON, the 30- year-old Icelandic international striker, has moved from St Mirren to St Johnstone for pounds 90,000.

PAUL RUTHERFORD, Falkirk's 25- year-old Sunderland-born striker, has agreed to a pounds 20,000 transfer to Hartlepool.
