Thailand's Samarn Sojaturong beat Mexican challenger Ladislao Vazaeuz on points to retain his World Boxing Council light-flyweight title in Bangkok yesterday.

The former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson plans to plead no contest to charges he attacked two men in August after an traffic accident in Maryland. The plea means Tyson would not have to admit or deny guilt, but if a judge accepts the plea, Tyson would be sentenced as if he pleaded guilty. Each charge carries a maximum of 10 years in prison.
