HARRY MULLAN, the editor of Boxing News and Boxing Correspondent of the Independent on Sunday, has won the inaugural Professional Boxing Association award for Services to Boxing. Steve Robinson, Cardiff's WBO featherweight champion, won the Fighter of the Year award.

RAY CLOSE, who was beaten on a split decision by Chris Eubank in their World Boxing Organisation super-middleweight title rematch in Belfast a month ago, may sue the WBO. Barney Eastwood, Close's manager, said: 'Ray's legal advisors are ready to sue the WBO after the loss of the master scorecard by the WBO supervisor at the fight.'
