ANIL KUMBLE's leg-spin proved decisive in Wellington yesterday as India defeated New Zealand by 12 runs to take a 2-1 lead in their best-of-four one-day series. Navjot Sidhu (71 not out), Sachin Tendulkar (63) and Ajay Jadeja (56) left the hosts chasing 256 and despite a stand of 85 between Shane Thomson and Adam Parore, Kumble's 5 for 33 restricted New Zealand to 243 for 9.
