GRAEME OBREE, the world 4,000 metres pursuit champion, was presented with a chunk of wood at the British Cycling Federation's prize presentations in Stockport. His wooden trophy was a 50cm piece of the Norwegian track where he won his title and set three world records. The World Championships track at Hamar had to be demolished because there was no place to store it. The Scot and his fellow Briton Chris Boardman, the Olympic champion, also received gold medals awarded by the International Cycling Union for breaking the world one-hour record.
