The Serie A club Parma claim to have signed the Brazilian international striker Marcio Amoroso from Udinese for pounds 20m, which would make him the second most expensive transfer in Italian history after the pounds 30m deal which took Christian Vieri from Lazio to Internazionale.

Juventus are close to signing the former Sheffield Wednesday forward Darko Kovacevic from Spain's Real Sociedad for pounds 12.5m.
