Red Star Belgrade's Yugoslav international midfield player Perica Ognjenovic is set to move to Real Madrid, according to Spanish media reports yesterday. Real want to sign the 21-year-old before the Spanish winter transfer deadline expires on 15 January, but with Red Star insisting on a transfer fee of around pounds 3.2m, the European champions may decide to wait until the end of the season, when Ognjenovic becomes a free agent and can move for nothing.

Corinthians secured the Brazilian championship yesterday after beating Cruzeiro 2-0 in the deciding match of the three-game final series. Both the first and second legs had ended in draws.
