WALLACE MERCER, the chairman of Heart of Midlothian, is set to sell his controlling interest in the Edinburgh club. He confirmed yesterday that he has received an acceptable offer from a consortium led by a businessman, Edward Cobb, but that negotiations will continue with other interested parties. 'I find the offer satisfactory in terms of price, and it is in the long-term interests of Hearts,' Mercer said.

BAYERN MUNICH were yesterday told to replay their German Bundesliga match at Nuremberg on 3 May. The rematch was ordered by the German football federation, after television evidence confirmed that one of Bayern's goals in their 2-1 win last weekend did not cross the line. Bayern, deprived of two points for the victory, still lead on goal difference, ahead of Kaiserslautern, who have two matches left to Bayern's three.
