DANIEL PASSARELLA, the captain of Argentina's 1978 World Cup-winning side, has been confirmed as the country's new national coach, in place of Alfio Basile.

PHIL MASINGA and Lucas Radebe, Leeds United's two summer signings, have been included in South Africa's squad for their African Nations' Cup qualifier in Madagascar on 4 September - as has David Byrne, the 34-year- old son of Johnny Byrne, the former England international. Byrne Jnr plays in midfield for the Cape Town club, Hellenic, where his father is coach.

PRESTON NORTH END have agreed to sell their Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper, Kelham O'Hanlon, to Dundee for pounds 30,000 and their defender, Trevor Matthewson, to Mansfield for pounds 25,000.
