PETER REID, the former Manchester City manager, will play for Third Division Bury next season. Bury also signed today the 29-year-old Chester winger, David Pugh, and Jimmy Mulligan, 20, from Stoke City yesterday. A transfer tribunal will decide both players' fees.

SAMMY CHUNG, formerly in charge at Wolves, became the new manager of Doncaster Rovers yesterday, in succession to Ian Atkins, who was dismissed on Thursday.

PRESTON NORTH END will start the season with four away games in the Endsleigh League Third Division, because the new grass pitch at Deepdale will not be ready. Preston will now travel to Hereford and Bury on August 20 and 30 respectively, after those two clubs agreed to reverse fixtures.
