ROMANIA have named Anghel Iordanescu as their new national coach in succession to Cornel Dinu, who was dismissed after the 5-2 defeat by the Representation of Czechs and Slovaks earlier this month. Iordanescu steered Steaua Bucharest to their 15th league title last season.

TORINO have signed the 32-year-old Uruguayan forward, Enzo Francescoli, from Cagliari for pounds 1m.
