Birmingham City have signed the striker Ken Charlery from Peterborough United for pounds 350,000, and are negotiating to sign Richard Forsyth, the Kidderminster midfielder. Transfer fees for Plymouth's Steve Castle and Swansea's Jason Bowen, both of whom have reported for training with Birmingham as free agents, will be decided by tribunals.

Dundee United have signed the former Dundee and Dunfermline right-back Rab Shannon from Motherwell. Shannon, out of contract at Fir Park, has signed a three-year deal with the Tannadice Park club, who hope to agree a fee with Motherwell and avoid a tribunal.

The former Everton and Manchester City striker, Wayne Clarke, has been appointed player-manager of the GM Vauxhall Conference side Telford United. Clarke, 34, who has been released by Shrewsbury, takes over from George Foster, who was dismissed last month.

Brian Law, Wolves' Welsh international defender, has been charged with taking a bus and drink-driving in Wolverhampton town centre.

David Gregory, the 24-year-old midfield player released on a free transfer by Ipswich Town, has joined Peterborough.
