BRIAN CLOUGH ended his 18-year reign as the manager of Nottingham Forest by winning another trophy last night. Forest beat Notts County 3-0 in the Nottinghamshire County Cup final with goals from Scot Gemmill, Lee Glover and Kingsley Black. A crowd of 12,493 gave Clough an emotional send-off at the City Ground.

ROB HINDMARCH, signed from Derby three years ago for pounds 350,000, has been given a free transfer by Wolves along with Keith Downing, Tim Steele, Lawrie Madden and Colin Taylor.

RAY RANSON has been given a free transfer by Manchester City, four months after rejoining the club from Newcastle.

DYNAMO DRESDEN, the former East German club, have been expelled from the Bundesliga First Division for alleged financial irregularities.

SWEDEN'S police have recommended that the country hosts no further events like last year's European Championship finals unless it is clear who pays for security. Local councils are still owed around pounds 5m for police overtime.
