FRANCE opened their eight-game South African tour with a 18-8 victory over Eastern Province yesterday. The tourists came close to being run off their feet in the last 20 minutes in the face of a late rally by Eastern Province's forwards. Alain Penaud, the fly- half drafted to replace Didier Camberabero, scored two tries in a personal haul of 13 points.
