ODESSA, the last of the yachts in the Whitbread Round the World Race, finished the first leg in Punta del Este, Uruguay, yesterday. The Ukrainian Whitbread 60, skippered by Anatoly Verba, had started a week late from Southampton and has taken 33 days 21 hours 31 minutes to complete the leg, putting them nearly nine and a half days behind the Whitbread 60 leader, Chris Dickson, in Tokio.
