Sporting Digest: Swimming

THE figures section is to be dropped from synchronised swimming at the Olympics and world championships. The competition at those championships will comprise a short programme and a long programme. World records are being introduced for the 50 metres backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly in both long course (50m pools) and short course (25m) and for the 100 metres individual medley.
