Sports Letter: Kelly's claim on incidents

Sir: Surely Graham Kelly, the FA secretary, stands condemned by the ridiculousness of the statement (4 December) he made in the recent court case involving John Uzell and Gary Blissett.

He is reported to have said that he could have seen 200 such incidents as that which led to the court case if he watched four matches in a week.

This works out at one such incident every one to eight minutes - quite apart from the other infringements such as handball, offside, etc. There would be little time left for actual football - and if the referee sent only half the offenders off there would not be many players left either]
