Sports Letters: New laws, new game

Sir: I can understand football managers being annoyed at the short notice over the implementation of new laws, but how can they grumble about the laws themselves?

Everybody who watched the World Cup witnessed an enormous improvement in players' discipline and attitude. God, how we've been conned all these years] Everyone in the English game should be well aware of the new strictures. If there is a proliferation of red and yellow cards then the players will only have themselves to blame.

Yours,
