Sports Letters: No head for heights
Sir: Reading Alan Watkins' column (27 April), I cannot understand why he thinks high tackles in rugby league are not penalised. In many cases they are punished more severely (than in union): 10 minutes in the 'sin bin' or dismissal. When a dismissal occurs the player subsequently receives a ban ranging from two to eight games. This punishment is not meted out in rugby union. I seldom see a rugby union player dismissed for a head- high tackle, but have seen the recipients led off with concussion.
Yours faithfully,
