Mike Massey, master of the trick shot from the United States, will be joined by Steve Davis, Dennis Taylor and Terry Griffiths, the champion, on Sunday evening at Brentwood for an event in which the competitors have been chosen not only for their trick shot skills but for their ability to entertain. Massey, the world No 1 exponent of this art, was narrowly beaten by Terry Griffiths for the title last year, when one of his tricks failed. Alain Robidoux, Willie Thorne, Tony Knowles, all players in the world top 20, and John Virgo, the former UK champion, complete the line-up.

How to get there: Brentwood Centre, Doddinghurst Road. From A12 or junction 28 of M25, take Brentwood turn-off to High Street, turn left into Ongar Road, right into Doddinghurst Road. Tickets are priced pounds 10. Warm-up begins at 8pm. (Box office 0277- 262616).
