The World Cup for saloon cars at Donington Park on Sunday has attracted a large entry of 42 drivers, from 13 countries, and 12 of the world's leading manufacturers. Britain's line- up is confident with the benefit of home advantage and particularly for John Cleveland, the Scot who won both rounds of the British Touring Car Championship in his Vauxhall Cavalier at Donington in June. The Italian team, however, includes Gabriele Tarquini, who marked his debut in the British championship by winning the title, Roberto Ravaglia, a former Italian, European and world touring champion, and the new Italian champion, Emanuele Pirro.

How to get there: Donington Park, Castle Donington, Derby, is three miles from junctions 23A/24 of M1/M42/A42. Admission: pounds 17 adults, children free. Racing starts at 10.30pm. (Saturday's qualifying is from 9.30am, pounds 7, free). (Tel: 0332- 810048).
