The Milk Race opens on Sunday afternoon with a prologue time trial in Royal Tunbridge Wells and the race, in its 36th edition, returns to Kent after a break of 32 years. On Monday, the 17 teams, each comprising six riders, set out on the first of 12 stages, finishing this year in Manchester on Sunday, 12 June, and with three consecutive mountain stages in North Wales and the Peak District, the 1,150- mile Milk Race will be a stern test of the riders' stamina. Conor Henry, who won the race last year at his first attempt, returns to defend. Representing Ireland, he will be wearing the No 1 shirt.
