PETER NICOL, the top seed, and Simon Parke will meet in an all- British quarter-final today at the national open after their respective second-round wins over Chris Walker and Mark Chaloner.

Nicol beat Walker 15-12, 15-7, 15-9 in a 67-minute second-round match at Birmingham last night. Parke, the national champion, survived another tough battle with Chaloner, the man he defeated in January's final and in the Super Series semi-finals in February. He took 110 minutes to win 13-15, 8-15, 15-12, 15-7, 15-11, after his opponent, attacking the front wall feverishly, took the first two games and held 6-6 in the third.

Sue Wright, the British champion, made it through to the women's last eight by beating South Africa's Natalie Grainger, 3-9, 9-6, 9-4, 9-5. She will play Suzanne Horner, who beat Tracey Shenton, 9-4, 9-2, 9-4.
