Mikael Pernfors, the former French Open finalist, has withdrawn from next week's Northern Electric Open at the Castle Farm Centre in Newcastle. The 32-year-old former world No 10 had been awarded a wild card entry, but suffered a sprained wrist in the Swedish Open last week. Pernfors's fellow Swede, Henrik Holm, is the top seed.
