Countdown to grass-court season: Murray has great chance to be king of Queen's

Given the weather it would be more appropriate if the tennis circuit moved indoors, but once the French Open brings the clay-court season to a close today it will be time to switch to grass. Maria Sharapova will be the main attraction at this week's Aegon Classic at Edgbaston, while all eyes will be focused on Andy Murray at the Aegon Championships at London's Queen's Club.

Rafael Nadal's withdrawal with a knee problem leaves Murray as the top seed. The 22-year-old Scot does not have the best of records in the tournament, with last year's run to the quarter-finals his best effort, but as Wimbledon is only 15 days away he will be keen to get some matches under his belt. After a first-round bye Murray plays Andreas Seppi or Robby Ginepri. Andy Roddick, Gilles Simon and Gaël Monfils are the next three seeds in a field that includes Lleyton Hewitt, Marat Safin, James Blake and Nikolay Davydenko.

The other Britons playing are Josh Goodall, who faces Gilles Muller, and James Ward, who meets Marcos Baghdatis. Both got wild-cards.
