Kournikova tops the poll

A new poll has revealed that Anna Kournikova is considered the sexiest female tennis star ever.

Kournikova came first in the poll, conducted for Mivvi Luxury Ice Cream Lollies, ahead of fellow Russian Maria Sharapova.

It probably says more about the "independent" readership but the two sexiest tennis players ever were Chris Evert and Pat Rafter, neither of whom made the list. Go figure!! It also didn't include the chick who plays down the road from me - but that's another story.

How come both Williams sisters and Capriati get in the top 10, but Daniela Hantuchova and Chris Evert are nowhere? Is Steffi Graf really that hot? I'd put Sharapova first and throw Jelena Dokic in somewhere.

What a rubbish list. You can't take tennis ability into account when compiling a list like this which has clearly been done! You people at the independent need to learn how to be more shallow. Where's Daniella Hantchucova and Ashley Harkelrod. Rubbish players but that's not the point.

Sampras? Henman?? Rusedski??? I find that beyond weird, as if a section of the population not interested in tennis were asked "which tennis players have you heard of?" Surely any list of men would have to include Pat Rafter (as some have mentioned above) and Marat Safin.

As for the women's list, sorry Jenny, but I can't see Capriati as sexy - not unattractive, but not sexy. Same with Serena. I'd put Dementieva in there, and definitely Anastasia Myskina - a true fox! How about Michaela Krajicek or Vera Zvonereva?

i didnt know tennis had turned into a beauty contest. who cares what they look like . what is sexy to one person is not sexy to another.everyone has diffrent taste some like blondes and others like dark hair . so whats the point in haveing one top sexy person when everyone has diffrent taste.do we watch tennis for the game or the players .

When Channel 4 was first launched it had brilliant, original and thoughtful programming.
