Australian Lleyton Hewitt claimed his second British scalp within 24 hours when he powered past Greg Rusedski in straight sets.

Hewitt reached the semi-finals of the Masters Series with a 6-4 6-4 win.

Yesterday, he defeated British number one Tim Henman in three sets.

Rusedski, the British number two, who had knocked out top seed Marat Safin to reach the last eight, was outclassed.

His big serve was not firing on all cylinders and that left him in trouble against Hewitt, whose return of serve is one of the best on the circuit.

Hewitt got 61 percent of his first serves in while Rusedski could only manage 47 percent.

Hewitt now meets Yevgeny Kafelnikov, a 4-6 6-1 6-4 winner over Dutchman Sjeng Schalken.
